Chapter Seven

Salem couldn’t remember the last time he’d kissed someone. As a loner who didn’t care much for company, he’d always taken his sustenance from one-night stands. Even when young, he’d been larger and far more intimidating than other vampires—both in size and attitude.

At that time, Salem’s bed-partners had been those thinking they were taking a walk on the wild side. There had been no kissing. Salem hadn’t had a problem with that.

He also hadn’t realized what he’d been missing.

Salem was surprised to feel relief that Keefe had pressed the issue. The taste of his gargoyle’s mouth had been almost as delicious as his blood. His cock had gone from hard to straining in the blink of an eye, and he’d nearly come in his jeans—something he had never done before.

Leading Keefe to his bedroom, Salem admitted, “I’m not one for romance, so if you want wine and roses, I’ll try to figure that shit out later.” He released his gargoyle’s hand in favor of sliding out of his coat. “Right now, I’m hard as nails, and I want to fuck you,” Salem declared, licking his lips as he swept his gaze over Keefe’s big body. His attention snagged at the massive erection tenting his gargoyle’s loincloth. Returning his focus to Keefe’s pale-blue face, he asked, “That okay with you? To get our bond started?”

Keefe smirked at him. Instead of replying verbally, he tugged his loincloth free of his body and tossed it onto a nearby chair.

Salem growled as he eyed his beloved’s stunning erection. “Perfect.”

“My answer? Or my cock?”

Barking a laugh, Salem yanked his shirt over his head. He continued to smile as he stripped in record time. “Both,” he declared with a wink.

“Hmmm.” Keefe pinned a feral gaze upon him. “Good. Where’s your lube?”

“Nightstand,” Salem teased. “Where else?”

“Excellent location,” Keefe replied, crossing to the aforementioned piece of furniture. “Got any toys in here you like to play with?” he asked, retrieving the lube before he brazenly rummaged through the drawer.

Salem chuckled as he shook his head. “Not a toy guy.”

“Pity.” Keefe stopped looking and turned to crawl onto the comforter. He made himself comfortable, relaxing on his back with his wings stretched out beneath him and his legs slightly spread. “But on the other hand, I’ll enjoy introducing you to certain things.”

Waggling his brows, Salem climbed up onto the bed near Keefe’s feet. “Really?” He pushed Keefe’s legs wider, and his beloved moved willingly. “What sort of things?”

“Hmmm...” Keefe placed the lube on the mattress beside his hip, then rested his hands behind his head, spreading himself out for Salem’s viewing pleasure. “Well, I guess it will all depend on your sensitive points.”

“Oh?” Salem grabbed the lube and popped it open. “Like what?”

As Salem poured a liberal amount of lube onto the fingers of his left hand, he took in Keefe’s musing expression. It suddenly hit him that he couldn’t remember the last time he’d shared a conversation with a lover, let alone exchanged teasing comments.
